Beauty Tips For Brides - [RE-UPDATED on 09-06-08]

Its the Marriage Season!! wooah ... and most of my friends and readers are getting married ... Firstly let me Congratulate you all :) Its really a dream come true! and with all the excitement haha i know ... So everyone wants to know how they can have Beautiful skin and look beautiful on their special day!! its really not rocket science girls .. trust me all you have to do is have confident in yourself :)

Well make up did plays a role but make up will look great if you have healthy and well cared skin! To caress skin you need not apply so many chemicals etc etc. Your daily regime also plays a big role! To have a perfect make up it is important to have a good skin. Make-up starts with great skin. So to look great on the wedding day it is important to take care of certain things before the wedding ceremony.

Here's a list of things I did and avoided during the pre wedding days and also which you SHOULD do as well:
  • Exercises like walking, jogging and if needed join a Gym.
  • Avoid food or any substances that could give you oily skin, swelling and irritation. Also avoid spicy, deep fried and junk food. (It is such a hard time to do this lol but trust me you will find the difference in a month!) It is better to avoid red meat and caffeine.
  • Drink around 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday. If you can drink more as it will keep you hydrated and flush out the toxins from the body. And it is very important to drink water to have a glowing skin. (If your marriage is taking place in Summer season then drinking water is a MUST!)
  • Exfoliate your skin with "Kanebo Refreshing Foaming Body Exfoliator" every twice a week and also the day before your wedding. You may read about this Product here. Most of the girls asked me whats the use of exfoliating or scrubbing skin? Few said they scrub coz it helps them to have soft skin. Yes it does help you to have soft skin and plus as much as you use it will reduce the growth of the hair. Esp. who have in-growth hairs. Oh God!! I have faced this problem nearly my whole life!! i approached so many beauticians etc etc everyone had their own bla bla but never it helped. I then bought the Kanebo exfoliater and with in 15 weeks i could see a lot of difference in my in-growth hairs! I did a research and found out that scrubbing and exfoliating helps you a lot in reducing the in-growth hairs!

  • Get your eyebrows shaped from a professional prior to the wedding day. Good shaped eyebrow is necessary because they frame the eyes.
  • If you want to use hair color refresh your hair color a week before the wedding.
  • Its very important that you pamper your body. Spend a day at the spa to de-stress your self a day before your special day. If going spa is expensive for you then go for a body massage in saloons. It helps too. I will recommend the "Layali Saloon for ladies" nearby the "New World Center". There is one lady from Thailand, she does it really great! I used to have this back ache for 2 years and I told her about it, she massaged it accordingly and till date I don't have that pain, its gone!!. I ultimately became her fan ;) Sorry but i really don't remember her name. You can call up the saloon or may be drop in to check it out :) Its really worth it!

  • Do Hammam magrabi once a month which is very famous as "Body scrubbing or Turkish bath" by a professional. In this they will scrub, exfoliate and steam the body followed by applying some really cool body perfumes which lasts for two weeks. You feel your body is well caressed and feel very young and beautiful from inside. The smell and the smoothness of the body makes you love your skin even more. It is very important to have sauna and steam bath. It opens up the pores and its easy to remove any impurities and dull skin by scrubbing. The procedure of scrubbing is painful so you have to really bear the pain! Please note not ALL saloons in Qatar do professionally. And having this done is very very IMPORTANT!! Get it done night before your wedding.

  • Bleach your body to remove any uneven tone from body esp. the knees and elbow areas. They get too dark coz of the weather. For the girls in Qatar, you may get this body bleach in Nazih which is on the salwa road. If you have good contacts with the saloon ladies they mite also help you get the brand which will suit your body. Kindly note that bleaching effect will not come in one time, for some it mite but who have really uneven and bad skin ... you have to do at least twice a week for 2 months. 2 days Pior to marriage you may get this done again! Saloon will cost u a lot so try doing at home, take your mothers or sisters or friends help! Coz doing alone could be difficult esp applying at the back! Also do a test whether it will be ok doing so or else you would end up having bad skin! I would recommend you to have it done professionally in a saloon. See the procedure and get the products, do it yourself :D. The main thing to know is that you shouldn't keep it more than 8 to 10 minutes!
  • Desi girls who have HALDI/CHIKSA ceremony PLEASE DO NOT APPLY BLEACH AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE THE EVENT. The girls who do wish to apply chemical bleach on the body can always go for Haldi paste. Kindly note that there are two kinds of Haldi. One which is used in the food and other other used for preparing Bride's body. So don't get confused and start applying the food haldi :P. You should know the proper ingredients it takes to make the haldi for preparing the body. Start applying 10 days before marriage. Apply all over your body and keep it for 10 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Wear something light for your haldi-mehndi ceremony, coz you have to sit straight with the mehndi all over your hands/arms and foot/legs how much ever you wanna put!

  • Do "Hot-oil-massage" every twice a week. It helps hair to grow longer and silky. Light hair color or highlights actually make you look smart and your skin looks more brighter.

  • Get a nice Manicure and Pedicure done. Since you are THE BRIDE its Important that all of your body parts to look beautiful. We work so much on face and hairs. Why leaving hands and feet? There are special Manicures and Pedicures for Brides. Its your special day so loosen up your pocket and spend!! ;)

  • Get your body waxed! Waxing is common and all of you know how it makes your skin look clean and neat. Avoid waxing on the face, If you wana go for face wax known as "Shama" do it 4 weeks before your wedding. Coz there are chances for getting real bad white heads due to tension and nervousness! I will advice you don't go for the face or face bleach if you have real THICK hairs. Thread it and apply ice thru out the day to lessen the redness or temporarily remove it from any hair remover machine. Braun offers good facial hair removers Epilators.

  • Get your facial done by a Professional two days before your wedding. I am a huge fan of "Shahnaz Hussain's Facial and body care". My favorite is the "Pearl Facial". "Gold facial" is recommended few days before your marriage. I will NOT recommend "London Beauty Saloon" located in Doha, coz if that's really what you look to have in a facial? better do it at home with your own cleanser and toner! why to spend 100 bucks when you can do it at home! For those who do not know SH's saloon, its located in Bin Mahmood, Opp to Toys R us!

  • Remove all makeup the night before your wedding. Apply lip moisturizer or Vaseline on your lips to avoid dry lips. Your face should be properly washed and clean before you start your make up on the wedding day.

Today's make up trends are mainly glossy and shimmering. Girls go for glitter and gloss. Proper and accurate make-up matching the skin tone can really make someone very attractive, beautiful and elegant. So if you are going to parlor for make up than you can opt for the following make up.

  • Special waterproof makeup for monsoon wedding
  • Face makeup
  • Eye makeup
  • Special effects makeup
  • Eyes makeup
  • Lips makeup
  • Special party makeup for various pre-wedding functions
  • Special wedding makeup

  • Get your Bridal and Hairstyle done by anyArab Professional. So many Saloon offer Bridal Makeup and Hairstyling packages. So go for that special makeup that will make you special on the most important day of your life. But keep in mind that your make should match your hairstyle and dress and it should be simple and elegant. It should not look overdone.

Well you must be like so much to do!!! no ways lol but common most of the things you actually do, few things are just added coz remember you THE BRIDE!! ;)

These tips can also be continued on the daily basis after your marriage. Coz its not the end in fact it's the beginning :). If you really love pampering your body :) Dates, special occasions etc etc its your right to look special and Beautiful :). Some are scared to use any products on their body, let me tell you here there is age for everything but not for looking Beautiful. Choose the products which suit your age :) Don't just blindly shop for anything and everything. I know you go crazy and confused but you have all your life to test the wonderful Products. Go for quality brands, they won't let you down! Before you buy any skin or body care products always consult the sales lady, if it's possible do research about that product. If you feel good, go for it :) or else there are always next best options available in the market :)

Hope these tips will help you! :). I have shared few secret coz I believe every woman is Beautiful :) You can always try the home recipes very well known as "Grandma Recipes" for beautiful skin.

Stay Beautiful ;)

AK:- Well dear am not really sure what kind of marks you have as you didn't mention and they are left over of what? In case its very serious i advice you to see a good dermatologist (skin doctor) coz home recipes and creams can help you lighten the marks. To permanently get rid of it you have to consult the doc! :) Do not go for any short cut, you never know what reaction can take place. If you have any parties etc. apply concealer as temporary mask. :)
