MAC Concealers: Studio Finish, Select Cover Up, Select Moisture Cover

Studio Fix Concealer:

One of the best Concealer so far I have come across. It can be easily applied and it blends really well onto your skin. Gives the best coverage to dark circles, blemishes, marks etc. Makes your skin look flawless!! Provides a smooth, long-wearing invisible coverage for all skin blemishes. Water-resistant, fragrance-free and Non-Acnegenic. It effectively covers dark circles, blemishes, moles, tattoos and birthmarks. Enriched with antioxidants (derivatives of Vitamin A and Vitamin E), it also contains Silica to help adsorb the skin's oils. It also has an SPF of 35. This can be used with a synthetic brush or even sponge.

Select Cover Up:

Liquid camouflage for the skin. Texture-free, virtually invisible. Comes in a tube. Blends in good. Brightens and lightens dark areas, erases spots, evens-out skin tones. Makes skin flaw-free. Use Pre-Foundation, or on its own. This does not contain SPF.

Select Moisture Cover:

This concealer comes in a tube with built-in doe-foot applicator which makes it easy to apply on the required areas. It is a skin perfecting concealer. This too does not have SPF.

Pale to Fair: NC 20
Fair to Medium: NC 3
Medium to Tan: NC 42
Tan to Dark: NC 45

Keep these shades in mind when you go shopping MAC, ask the makeup artist to check these on you, our skin changes everyday and seasonal too! in Summer we tend to get 2 shades darker and in Winter 2 shades lighter.

Will I recommend this Product? Yes, a lil goes a long way! It stays put all day long and a good investment. I would definitely recommend studio Finish!

Smokey Trio

Mac Carbon Eyeshadow (Matt)

If you are someone who loves intense smokey eye look then this is a perfect dark, like really dark eyeshadow of MAC. Even the softest look created from this shadow can give you a sexy & sultry look. The more you add color, the more intense it gets by building up as per the look you wana have for that day or evening. I am a complete eye makeup person. The only con about this product is; since its a Matt texture, it needs lots & lots of blending.

MAC Smolder Eyepencil/Kohl

Smokey look is incomplete without the Smolder. (Basically any black pencil can do the trick but since its MAC review week so SMOLDER it is!) It is super-black, very pigmented and smooth eye ohl that is best suited for creating smokey looks because of it smudgy nature. The only con it has; it's not waterproof so won't stay all day esp if you have watery eyes, until & unless you are a person who keeps checking on your makeup now & then! The pro of this product is; it does not spread around your eyes giving a raccoon eye look unlike the other drug store eye pencils or kajals, this one fades away with time. This only works perfectly as a base. All you need to do is Smudge & blend, blend, BLEND!!

MAC Basic Must Have Brushes and Purpose:

1. Eye brow Brush:

Bristles are quite firm and are clipped at an angle to allow for clean, even application of shadow or brow powder to the brows’ coarse hairs.

MAC 208 Angled Brow Brush gives this sharp to soft Eyebrow touch. Its totally controlled!

2. Eye Shadow Brush:

The eye area is delicate so the shadow brush should be made with natural hair such as squirrel. The shadow brush is used for a clean sweep of color.

MAC 213 Fluff Brush and MAC 212 Flat Definer Brush are two brushes which Lines and define the eye with color. Firmly bristled, flat of shape; applies color in a stroke to provide instant definition. Use with powder, liquid etc. For controlled application of eye shadow. Good for applying highlighters and eyelids. This is multipurpose Brush as it can be used for applying Concealers (powder) around the nose and eyebrow area, lip corners and any thing you wanna hide by applying Concealer. For those who like to mix water with certain eyeshadow for long lasting makeups this brush type is Perfect!

3. Eye- Shadow Blending Brush:

This is one of the hottest selling brush and most popular among eye brushes from MAC.

MAC 217 Blending Brush is a must have!! Remember its all about the BLENDING!!

4. Eye Liner Brush:

An extra-fine tipped synthetic fiber brush that delivers a precise, firm, even stroke with which to line the eyes. Use with liquid or cream products.

MAC 209 Eye liner Brush is the one for Soft fine-tipped point is ideal for creating a thin, controlled line Works beautifully for upper and lower lash lines.

5. Lip Liner Brush:

Lip brushes allow you to use less lipstick but it also can be used to soften the line of your lip liner. With the brush, you can blend it right into the lipstick so that it is not visible.

MAC 311 Lip Liner Brush gives me full controlled lipstick or eye liner application and comes with a metal cover. This brush has small, flat, firm fibers and a tapered tip.

6. Foundation Brushes:

For foundation users, a flat, firm foundation brush (synthetic bristles such as taklon are preferable here) is best for blending and mixing colors. It is essential to use the foundation brush to blend your foundation close to your jaw line for a smooth finish.

MAC 150 Large Powder Brush gives good application of the foundation and cover the area properly giving a flawless and radiant look! These can be also used for the application of "Finishing Powders".

7. Concealer Brush:

A narrow, firm brush works best (synthetic bristles are preferable here). It should be tapered to a flat head. When you are trying to hide something, it should not stand out and draw attention. Whether you are dabbing on a liquid concealer or using a concealer stick, blending it in is the key to using concealer the right way. If you use your fingers, make sure you dab the concealer on gently. Rubbing it will remove what you have just applied. If you use a sponge, chances are the concealer will just spread thinly on your skin, and will not conceal the imperfections you are trying to cover up in the first place. This is where the concealer brush comes in. Preferably made with synthetic bristles like Taklon, a good concealer brush will blend concealer evenly to cover up imperfections, without stripping the layer away or spreading it too thin. And since concealer brushes aren't nearly as expensive as a powder brush or a blush brush, you should not hesitate to buy a well made one.

8. Cheek/Blush Brush:

A medium-full brush. Using a good blush brush is paramount to achieving a flawlessly finished makeup. Bad blush brushes are the reason so many women go around wearing unattractive stripes of blush across their faces. Like the powder brush, a good blush brush should be made with natural hair like pony or squirrel. It is important to have pure natural hair for a blush brush because it will pick up and deposit just the right amount of color on your skin, so even if you tend to be heavy handed with your blush, you will not look like a clown. Having a good blush brush made of natural hair is a foolproof way to do your makeup and is highly recommended for all women, whether they are professional makeup artists or not.

MAC 116 Brush does it all.

9. Angled Contouring/Blush Brush

It’s famous as a contouring brush, particularly for larger areas — like the hollow of the cheeks, forehead, and jaw line.

MAC 168 Large Angled Brush is a good pick.

MAC must Haves for Indian/medium/tan skin tone!!

Holla ladies :) Yes am back!! I know it has been long since I updated my site with new makeup reviews and tips. Thanks for all your appreciation, support and understanding.

Most of the Indian ladies and the ladies with medium/tan skin tone get confused as in what to buy while shopping at MAC. Most of them complained about the behavior of the saleslady which didn't impress/encourage them to buy MAC. I have got so many mails in which most of them have lost interest in purchasing MAC products yet wanting to know if i could be of some help. But let me tell you MAC is a great brand and hopefully this review will help you in choosing at least the basic stuff you need if you are a beginner.

Apart from above, these MAC collections are my personal favorite!! This could be lengthy but am sure you will have some idea.

Step 1 :- Choosing the Right Foundation

MAC Mineralize Satin Finish Foundation/Powder with SPF 15

This fluid foundation blends the natural light-reflecting properties of micro-minerals with a smooth satin finish. Provides a low-to-medium buildable coverage with a slightly luminous look. Contains vitamins A, C and E to help nurture and condition the skin. It has SPF 15 sun protection. Long-wearing. This is best for normal to dry skins. Perfect for photo-shoot as well.

As you see the shade #40 is the best for medium/tan skin tones. However you can miss and match two shades to get the right shade. Remember you will never get the exact shade. You need to blend well onto the skin.

Shades: NC40

MAC Studio Fix Foundation Powder:

This one is best for oily skin. You can skip the fluid and go for this Powder Foundation alone. Gives the best coverage and makes skin look flawless. Best applied with brush. It can also be applied with a sponge, or a powder puff.

The powder and pigments create a matte, velvety texture. It contains silica, which helps to maintain a matte finish by absorbing oils on the skin, as well as talc to provide a smoother, less reflective, matte finish.

Shades: NC 42 NC 45

Step 2: Concealer

MAC Studio Fix Concealer

Studio Fix Concealer is the best Concealer so far I have come across. It can be easily applied and it blends really well onto your skin. gives the best coverage to dark circles, blemishes, marks etc. Makes your skin look flawless!!

Shades: NC 35 NC 42

MAC Select Moisture Cover

This one is a luxuriously blendable moisturizing concealer. It's in a tube built-indoe-foot applicator and goes on exactly where you want it. It's a skin perfecter. It blends very easily. Best for under-eyes, around the mouth and nose area. It provides soft and natural camouflage. Use with the 194 concealer Bbrush.

Shades: NW 30 NC 35

Step 3 : Set it up with either Loose Powder or Studios Fix powder.





Step 4: Contouring and Bronzing

This step is important since you get to Contour the shape of your face which highlights your cheek bones and does the trick to hide your under chin. Using a blush brush, apply bronzer in a circular motion to the apples of the cheeks, upper cheekbones, forehead, under chin and nose.

Shade: Sheertone

Step 5: Applying Blush

Smile and apply these beautiful blush shades from MAC on your apple of your cheeks. Blend well. I truly love them. Easy to apply and highly pigmented. MAC has cream based blush as well. Depends on your taste. However these are best for medium skin tones.

Shades: Prism, Peaches, Sheertone, Peachykeen,

Pearl, Shell are Cream based blush which are perfect to use as highlighters on cheeks to get the glow shine for your face and also can be used as base for your eye shadows.

Step 6: Lipstick

Demi-sheer with wet-look lustre finish. Very slick. Makes lips look soft, smooth, ultra-moist.

Shades: High Tea ( picture) Flattering, Composure, Rouge A Levres ( Lustre collections), Blankety, Sharp Focus, Diva

Lipgloss and Lip liners can be selected according to the colors you choose.
